A huge thank you to Eduardo Ramón Trejo for the stunning illustrations that brought the Telly Awards’ 46th season to life! His creativity and unique artistic style perfectly capture the spirit of innovation and storytelling that define the Telly Awards. Coming from Guadalajara, Mexico, and living in Mexico City, Eduardo is an illustrator and graphic designer, specialized in collage illustration.
“It has been an amazing experience to collaborate with the Telly Awards, especially because my work has always been inspired by references from television and media. I feel that my work is something like an archeological quest, picking up references, textures, colors and bits of popular culture that create something new from all these pieces. I’m from Mexico, and even though Mexican culture is very vibrant, complex and rich, I have always been inspired by many other cultures thanks to television; it’s like a window to the world. Collage illustration has been a very powerful tool for me, that has allowed me to combine my many passions such as music, art, history and photography.
The main idea for the illustration that accompanies this year’s proposal was creating a surreal and complex visual that combined elements that reference the roots and past of television production with the present and future of content creation, and the infinite possibilities that this brings to professionals. My work is always inspired from vintage machines and ephemera that become part of a retrofuturist character, that talk about how humans are made of different objects, memories and thoughts, that combined create a complex machine. This idea worked very well with this year’s concept, “Story takes shape.”
